What happens to your recycling?
The recycling materials are taken to a material recovery facility where recycling is separated mechanically and by hand into the various recycling material streams.
The various materials are then sent to reprocessing outlets where they are turned into new products.
The food waste and garden waste are taken to an Invessel Composting facility where compost is produced using an accelerated process that takes just a few weeks.
If you put plastic bags in the organics wheeled bin or the food waste container, the entire load may be rejected by the facility and sent to landfill.
