Special events

The council has a responsibility for providing temporary traffic and parking management measures to mitigate the effects of various special events held within the borough. These include events such as Diwali (Festival of lights) which are held on an annual basis in the Wembley and Neasden areas and major events at Wembley Stadium.

These temporary traffic management schemes are developed in conjunction with the Metropolitan Police and other emergency services and event organisers and include temporary measures such as one-way streets, road closures, waiting and/or loading restrictions, parking bay suspensions and extending the hours of operation within controlled parking zones.

The measures are necessary to ensure that any traffic problems generated by these popular events is mitigated or managed in order to reduce the environmental impact on local residents, to ensure the smooth running of the event, to maintain emergency service access and most importantly to ensure the safe movement of all road users at all times and minimise the risk of accidents.
