Youth work

Mission:

'To deliver quality youth work that will enable young people to fulfil their potential and contribute to their communities'

What we do

Young people in Brent are our priority and it is our goal to provide them with activities that engage them and services that provide support in all aspects of their lives. We work with young people aged 13-19 years, or 11 to 25-year-olds with special needs.

Service aims

The service aims to provide informal, educational and social opportunities for children and young people that are challenging, drive their energy into positive activities and raise their aspiration levels.

Objectives

  •  to provide challenging and curriculum-based learning opportunities
  •  to provide access to quality provisions for disadvantaged groups
  •  to enable user participation in the decision-making process
  •  to offer high quality services
  •  to support the objective of raising educational standards of achievement by extending opportunities for learning outside the normal school time
  •  to provide funding and capacity building to voluntary organisations.

Quality assurance

We are committed to improving and developing our services to ensure that all young people in Brent who wish to use our services can be assured of receiving a high quality of service in our curriculum, staffing and facilities.

Youth workers carry out daily evaluations of sessions and report every three months on the number of young people who have attended the projects managed or resourced by the maintained sector of the service.

Partnership working

We are committed to partnership working. There has been a long history of collaboration between the council maintained and voluntary managed youth groups. Brent continues to develop its links with the voluntary sector and any other organisation or agency which is seeking to address the informal education and welfare needs of young people in Brent.
