Moving from benefits to work
If you can show that you have a business idea that could work and are on one of the following benefits:
- Jobseekers' Allowance (JSA)
- Income Support
- Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
You may be eligible for the New Enterprise Allowance. Speak to your local Jobcentre Plus for more information.
Anyone who's unemployed can join an Enterprise Club. You'll be able to share experiences and get help from other people who want to become self-employed, as well as local business people and advisers.
The Prince's Trust Enterprise programme helps thousands of small businesses get off the ground each year. It offers a brilliant package of cash, mentoring and practical support including business plan writing workshops and financial planning.
If you're aged 18 to 30, unemployed or working fewer than 16 hours a week, the Enterprise programme can help you decide whether self-employment is right for you.
