Nursery options for three to four-year-olds
Children living in Brent are entitled to nursery places, usually part-time, from the term following their third birthday. These places can be taken in a:
- Nursery class in a primary school or a nursery school
- Private/voluntary day nursery or pre-school group - use our Family Information Directory to search for day nurseries and other pre-school care not in a school setting.
Applying for a school nursery place
We do not control the admissions for nursery class places. If you are applying for a nursery class place, apply to the nursery/school directly. You will need to get an application form from the school, which you complete and return to them.
Nursery class places are popular. You should make your application well in advance of the September start-of-year date.
Use our directory of schools to search for contact details for nursery classes nearest to you:
Brent has 55 primary schools, with nursery classes available at each except for Byron Court and Islamia.
There are also four stand-alone community nursery schools not attached to primary schools:
- College Green Nursery School
- Curzon Crescent Children's Centre
- Fawood Children's Centre
- Granville Plus Nursery School
State school places are completely free of charge. If you prefer to find your child a place in a day nursery, with a childminder or other non-school setting, you can get help with payments by using the early years' education grant.
Your child is entitled to 15 hours of free education a week, for 38 weeks, from the term following their third birthday. Find out more information about this Nursery Education Grant (NEG).
