Measles is a highly infectious disease, that is some cases, can lead to severe illness such as meningitis.
Young children, pregnant women, and those who are immunosuppressed are more likely to become more ill if infected with measles.
Recently, measles cases have been rising in North West London, this is due to the high number of people not protected from measles through the MMR (Measles, Mumps & Rubella) vaccine. The UK Health Security Agency has released a statement that there is likely to be a measles outbreak in London if vaccination rates remain the same.
The MMR vaccine remains the only way of protecting your children from measles.
You can make sure your child is up to date on their MMR vaccines by checking their ‘red book’ or speaking to your GP.
Find out more about the current situation and how to get the MMR vaccine at Brent Civic Centre vaccine clinic every Monday and Tuesday between 9:30am - 4:30pm, walk ins only, no appointment needed.
