I am proud that Brent is a truly diverse and tolerant community where the vast majority of people share the same values and respect for one another regardless of age, gender, sexuality, background, race or religion.
It’s a real honour to be able to host two Rugby World Cup games in Brent. The Ireland vs Romania game broke the record for the biggest ever crowd at a Rugby World Cup match with 89,267 fans enjoying the spectacle at Wembley Stadium.
The future is bright for Brent’s young people. After an excellent set of GCSE and A-level results, the world is their oyster. The proportion of pupils in Brent achieving five GCSEs grades A*-C rose by 2 percentage points to 62 per cent this year and the A-level students maintained a pass rate of 97 per cent.
I’m thrilled that the Community Champion Awards are back. These awards recognise and celebrate the people of Brent who go above and beyond, those who selflessly contribute so much for the benefit of our community.
