Brent’s Small Business Saturday Awards terms and conditions

By nominating their business for an award, the entrant will be deemed to have read and understood the terms and conditions below:

Nomination process

  • The deadline for nominations is Monday 8 November at 1pm
  • Businesses nominate themselves through the online application form
  • Each nomination form may upload up to 5 photos/videos
  • The word limit for each written question is 500 words
  • It is free to nominate your businesses
  • Businesses are welcome to nominate themselves for more than one award
  • Businesses must be based in Brent
  • If there is any commercially sensitive/confidential information is included in entry, please make this clear that this is not to be shared public otherwise this may be used

Shortlisting and judging panel

  • A maximum of five businesses for each awards category will be shortlisted
  • The shortlist will be decided by council officers
  • Shortlisted businesses will be contacted via email in November
  • The judging panel will consist of Councillor Shama Tatler (Lead Member for Regeneration, Property & Planning), Senior Economic Growth Manager and representative(s) from business organisations
  • If any of the winning businesses should be found to have any major issues with Brent Council in terms of licensing, trading standards, business rates and planning enforcement, the council reserves the right to revoke the award
  • Judges decisions will be final and binding with no appeal process


  • There will be an in-person event to announce the winners
  • The prize for winners will be inclusion in the Your Brent magazine as part of a wider spread announcing the winners of the awards; inclusion in news story on the Council’s website announcing the winners, mention in business e-newsletter; opportunity for a photocall at the winners’ event and showcased across the Council’s social media
  • The photocall will be held at the in-person event
  • Invited businesses to the event will be given 2 weeks’ notice and will be expected to attend the event. Businesses should RSVP as soon as possible and give notice if they are unable to attend the event
  • If national guidelines/restrictions change regarding COVID-19, the event may be changed or cancelled. Contingency plans will be made to allow for either a socially distanced event or virtual event if needed
