The government announced the COVID-19 Additional Relief Fund – CARF in March 2022. This fund aims to support businesses, affected by the COVID pandemic, who have not been able to benefit from existing relief or grants linked to business rates.
An eligible business can receive up to a maximum of 25% off their 21/22 NNDR liability. We will award grants on a first come first served basis, within the funding limits of the scheme allocated to us.
Eligibility criteria
The types of business that may be eligible for this grant include:
- factories workshops and warehouses (Including bakeries and dairies)
- food processing centres
- recording studios
- storage depots
- stores
- studios.
This grant is for Brent businesses who:
- are not entitled to or have not already received a reduction against their business rates liability for the 2021/22 relief period
- have been trading in Brent from 1 April 2021
- were negatively impacted by the Coronavirus pandemic during 2021-22
- have premises that have been occupied and trading for the relief period
- are solvent.
If you do not fall into one of the above categories but you think that your business meets the general criteria of the Council’s policy, you may apply with evidence to support your claim.

To apply, you need to email the council before the 30 June 2022.
In your email, you must set out why and how your business qualifies for this award. Please include as much supporting evidence as possible to show how your business meets the fund criteria.
