Final call for new parent support group

24 April 2014

Parents and carers are invited to the first meeting of a new support group which will focus on the needs of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
The group has been set up by Brent Council in the light of new government reforms that will change the way that councils, health services and schools provide support for children with SEND.
As well as keeping parents informed about the changes and giving them a chance to share views and experiences, the council hopes that the group will work closely with the authority to inform and plan services.
One of the first things parents will be asked to get involved with is the development of Brent's 'Local Offer', an easy-to-use website of services and support from birth to 25, across education, health, social care, leisure and more.
There is still time to book a space at the meeting, which takes place on Wednesday 30 April between 10.30am and 12noon at The Learning Zone at Wembley Stadium.
