Everyone Active members raise over £100,000 for the National Emergencies Trust

3 April 2020

As gyms up and down the country closed following the Government’s instruction, Vale Farm Sports Centre operated by Everyone Active on behalf of Brent Council, quickly mobilised their community-focused membership to do good while keeping active.

The minute the gyms had to close, Everyone Active wrote to every member across Brent with ideas of how they and their families could keep active at home.  In addition, they offered people the chance to support local communities by donating 50% of their monthly membership straight to the National Emergencies Trust to support its fundraising appeal to help those most affected by the coronavirus outbreak.

The National Emergencies Trust harnesses the nation’s generosity to support those affected by a national emergency at their time of greatest need.  Its coronavirus outbreak response is helping provide a lifeline to many and it is actively collaborating with charities and other bodies to distribute much needed support.

In the first weekend alone since the gym closures, Everyone Active members have raised over £100,000 for the National Emergencies Trust. All who did this were given free access to a suite of online activities worth £45 per month to help keep their families fit, healthy and happy during the coronavirus outbreak.

“We, like all other gyms, had no choice but to close our sites on Friday March 20th,” says Everyone Active Contract Manager Chris Williams.

“However, we DID have a choice how to proceed from that point and acknowledging the strong sense of community that our members have, we decided to offer them a chance to give back to those most in need while also protecting their own fitness regime. We were overwhelmed by the warm response from our members signing up to the National Emergencies Trust donation option and would like to thank everyone for their support here. We always say that we are stronger together and this is never more so in such critical circumstances.”
