Have your say on our Stronger Communities consultation
15 August 2018
Residents are being called on to have their say on how they want their local community to evolve in a new consultation launching this week.
The Stronger Communities consultation sets out a range of key values and priorities for creating more cohesive communities within the borough and asks residents to contribute their views. These include dealing with the effects of poverty, promoting gender equality, engaging newer communities and tackling extremism.
Brent is one of London’s most culturally diverse boroughs with 65% of the borough’s population coming from black or minority ethnic backgrounds.
Cllr Tom Miller, Cabinet Member for Community Safety, said:
“This is an important milestone for the council and the borough as a whole. Brent’s diverse communities have been a source of strength for the borough, helping to make it the exciting, successful place it is.
“The council is committed to building on this heritage so that Brent remains somewhere everyone, whatever their background, can be proud to call home. We want to make sure everyone is part of this journey - so get involved and have your say today”.
How to take part in the consultation:
- Come to one of our Brent Connect meetings in October
- Join the conversation at one of our engagement events across the borough (dates to be confirmed)
- Contribute to the panel conversation on the “Time to Talk” session on Monday 3 September at www.thebeat1036.com
The consultation will close on 31 October.
