Windmill Court Fire

Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters were called to a fire at a flat in Windmill Court, Kilburn, this afternoon.

A flat on the third floor was badly damaged by fire. Firefighters rescued one man from the flat but he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The Fire Brigade now has the fire under control and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Cllr Muhammed Butt, Brent Council Leader, said: "Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the person who has lost his life. I am very grateful to the Fire Brigade, all the emergency services and council officers who responded so quickly to contain the fire. The council is now working to ensure that any residents from the neighbouring properties who need to be rehoused are well looked after."
