Ready, steady, FREE summer fun for Brent kids!
20 July 2021
Get ready for a jammed-packed summer! Thanks to the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme, children across the borough can access a wide range of activities from cooking to sports, as part of a wider national scheme funded by the Department for Education.
The aim of the programme is to support the physical and mental health and wellbeing of children and young people, encouraging them to engage in interactive and fun activities. The programme kicks off from July 26 to August 31, to be delivered by 40 selected providers.
The programme will offer free places to school-aged children (aged 4-16), who are eligible for benefits-related free school meals.
There will be a variety of activities and something for everyone to join including sports, drama, arts and crafts, dancing and cooking healthy food for children to stay active and have fun.
We want every child to have a great summer exploring new adventures, making new friends, playing, finding new things to do, and eating healthy, nutritious food while learning more about food and nutrition.
Cllr Mili Patel, Cabinet Member for Children’s Safeguarding, Early Help and Social Care said:
“We want children to be happy, healthy, and entertained this summer, finding new things to do and getting back to having the freedom to enjoy themselves. It has been a very challenging year for children and their families and they deserve a summer of fun!”
Cllr Thomas Stephens, Cabinet Member for Education, Employment and Skills said: “Our children have worked so hard, in what has been a very anxious and challenging year for them, so to be able to take part and enjoy these activities is a real bonus.”
