Davina Roberts has secured £24,000 funding to create a new market stall for her business ‘Punch & Juicy Liquid Foods’.

The entrepreneur, who was homeless and then diagnosed with lymphoedema (a condition which affects mobility), hit her crowdfunding target with support from the Mayor of London, London Docklands, Car Giant, Quintain and 70 other supporters.

Davina said: “Since launching, we’ve reached over 500 community members under 16 years old, teaching them about healthier alternatives to widely advertised sugary beverages.

“We hope to increase our outreach and create even greater impact by adding the third element to our work, a market stall, to sell the delicious fruit and veg we grow on our allotment.”

Cllr Krupesh Hirani, Lead Member for Community Wellbeing, said: “A huge part of our campaign work is around saying ‘no to sugary drinks’. Around a quarter of the added sugar in a child’s diet comes from these drinks. Companies like Punch & Juicy, who promote healthy, delicious alternatives, are incredibly important in helping families ensure their children have access to a healthier, balanced diet.

“Davina’s story is truly inspiring and her work in the community is invaluable.”
