Parks remain open but playgrounds, gyms and games areas close

23 March 2020

You may have seen in the news this weekend, reports of large numbers of visitors to Parks and Open Spaces around the country.

We all know how important parks are for physical and mental wellbeing. However, in the current climate we are concerned that people are not heeding the advice on social distancing and are crowding together in playgrounds, gyms, and games areas.

That’s why we’ve taken the decision to close playgrounds, gyms (where they are fenced in), and games areas (i.e. tennis courts).

Parks and open spaces remain open, and we are urging people to follow the latest public health advice while out and about.

Please keep yourself and others safe by:

  • Staying two metres away from others
  • Not touching your face
  • Washing your hands thoroughly as soon as you get home
