An Eid message from the Mayor of Brent

22 May 2020

My very best wishes to everyone celebrating Eid al-Fitr in Brent and beyond.

The traditional Muslim festival marks the end of Ramadan - a month of fasting. 'Eid', an Arabic word meaning 'festivity,' is a happy event that embraces family, thanksgiving, remembrance and peace.

Lockdown restrictions remain in place despite the usual tradition for family gatherings and prayers during this occasion. Observing a socially distanced Eid will not be easy, but as long as we continue to follow the guidance we can get through these uncertain times.

I wish you all a happy and safe Eid. Eid Mubarak.

Councillor Ernest Ezeajughi, Mayor of Brent
