Council steps into the ring to help boxing club complete gym refurb

25 November 2019

A disused basement of a railway workers club has been transformed into a state-of-the-art boxing gym, thanks to Cricklewood Boxing Club, its sponsors and through funding from Brent Council.

Cricklewood Boxing Club breathed new life into the old basement of Cricklewood Railway Club on Edgware Road having received around £60,000 in funding from the local authority.

The boxing club is one of 160 organisations in Brent to have received funding through the council's NCIL programme.

Operating for just three years, the club provides training to members aged six and upwards and has already produced national champions.

Any project that benefits the community can apply for funding before 1 December 2019.
