Emmy award-winning actor Riz Ahmed has thrown his support behind Brent’s bid for London Borough of Culture 2020.
In a statement last week, the Wembley born actor explained why he’s backing Brent for the title.
“Brent is an incredible borough bursting with energy, talent and creativity,” he said.
“Much of that is down to the influences of different communities and cultures that have come from all over the world to make my home borough the unique place that it is today. I’m backing Brent’s bid and am tipping it to win London Borough of Culture 2020.”
Riz was recently awarded the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series for his role in the series In the Night Of, making history as the first man of Asian descent to win the award.
His position as one of Hollywood’s rising stars was previously cemented by major roles in blockbusters Jason Bourne and Rogue One, the latest in the Star Wars series.
Under the new initiative from the Mayor of London, two boroughs will be crowned London Borough of Culture in 2019 and 2020. The winning boroughs will receive over £1m of funding towards creative activities that will make a real difference to their area.
