Residents are being invited to a free shave off event in Wembley Park on 1 November as part of the annual ‘Movember’ campaign to raise awareness for men’s health.

Movember encourages men to grow moustaches and fundraise during the month of November to open up conversations about men’s health issues such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health.

All money raised will go directly to the Movember charity towards funding world class programmes that are saving and improving the lives of men.

This year, we’re collaborating with Wembley Park’s first gender neutral salon Chop Chop and offering residents and local people the chance to get their moustache shaved off for free by a professional hair stylist on 1 November.

By taking part in this initiative, people can inspire donations, conversations and real change, and help to reduce the number of men dying prematurely by 25% by 2030.

To get involved in this year’s Movember campaign, all you need to do is follow five simple steps:

  1. Start with a blank canvas by attending our free shave off eventbook a free appointment online through Eventbrite or walk-in on the day
  2. Sign up and set up your fundraising page – through the Movember website
  4. Make it count – ask friends and family to back your Mo by donating money to your fundraising page
  5. Share your progress on Twitter – this will help to spread the word and remember to tag @Brent_Council @chopchopldn @WembleyPark and #Movember

Brent Council’s Cabinet Member for Public Health, Culture and Leisure Cllr Krupesh Hirani, said:

“This is a really great campaign to get involved with because it’s simple, easy and fun whilst also opening the way for some important conversations about men’s health.”

Chop Chop Wembley Park will be open from 10am-8pm on 1 November.
