A new employment service will now provide more opportunities for local people to learn and work in Brent.
Brent Works directly connects with employers to help them recruit skilled local people, and develop their workforce. It provides residents with support in finding the right job, preparing for interviews and gives guidance in all steps leading to work.
Previous named Wembley Works, the service has now expanded to work with employers across Brent, and therefore help more people gain meaningful employment. This newly expanded service works in partnership with Job Centre Plus and the College of North West London to find training opportunities, apprenticeship and job positions, as well as providing one-to-one advice and guidance for residents.
Lead member for Employment and Skills, Councillor Roxanne Mashari said: "It's fantastic to see our employment service expanding to give more people in Brent the work opportunities they need. Brent Works is a crucial service, which helps residents find a job which suits them, and enables local businesses to create a strong workforce."
Local resident Henry, who accessed the Brent Works service and gained his job at Premier Inn in Park Royal through their support said: "Brent Works helped me to realise what it was that had been holding me back all of the time I was trying to get back into work. My advice to anyone who is having trouble finding work is go to Brent Works. It is a great programme."
