Cllr Muhammed Butt, Leader of Brent Council, said:
"Shockingly we once again find ourselves in a sense of devastation after the brutal, evil act committed in France.
"Our thoughts, prayers and sincere condolences are with the people of Nice and the French community both in France and here in Brent - especially all of the families who have been affected by this terrible atrocity.
"We also wish the many injured and wounded in the attack a full recovery and continue to pray for those who are fighting for their lives.
"Regardless of who we are now is the time to take on those who wish to divide us and for all of us to speak up with a united voice.
"We should and will never allow hate to win, as our drive to live peacefully side-by-side is far stronger that their aim of division and hate."
The Leader of Brent Council, Cllr Muhammed Butt, has also called for Brent residents to come together to tackle hate crime in his July blog post.
