52 new, high quality, self-contained flats will be built at Chippenham Gardens in South Kilburn, following approval by Planning Committee at Brent Council last week.
Part of the significant regeneration programme in South Kilburn, there will be 22 affordable homes for secure tenants of the South Kilburn estate - that's approximately 42 per cent affordable housing - with 30 private units for sale.
Additionally, there are five wheelchair accessible units included in the development plans, broadly meeting the target of 10 per cent adaptable units specified in the London Plan.
The buildings housing the flats will vary in height, from four- to six- storeys and consist of 24 one-bedroom flats, 19 two-bedroom flats and 9 three-bedroom flats.
Amongst other improvements, landscaping work will create a greener area for residents to enjoy, there will be better refuse provision and cycle paths and bays, to make it easier for people to move around the area. The much appreciated, popular public space will be further improved and all the healthiest, robust and established trees kept, to preserve what's there and create a relaxing space for local people.
Cllr Roxanne Mashari, Lead Member for Regeneration and Growth at Brent Council said:
"We're thrilled that a recent article highlighted the high quality, award-winning housing being provided by Brent Council as part of the regeneration work in South Kilburn. This latest approval by Planning Committee for housing at Chippenham Gardens will enable further phases of this important regeneration work to move forward, bringing even more in-demand, high quality affordable housing to the area."
