Children and parents enjoyed a free demonstration of pot making at the Library at Willesden Green last Sunday (24 July 2016).
Artist and art teacher Vinicus Les taught the audience the basics of the potter's wheel before giving the children the chance to have a go for themselves.
The event was attended by around 70 local residents including, Shehryar Raza, aged eight, who said:
"I thought the pottery was brilliant! I really liked it when he explained how to make the pot bigger and wider on the wheel. I like coming to the library for craft events and think I will be in the library lots now it's the summer holidays"
Shehryar's mother Faiza Batool said:
"I think the libraries in Brent have lovely events over the summer. Shehryar loves reading and coming to the library and has already read his first two books for the Summer Reading Challenge."
Over the summer libraries in Brent take part in a national scheme, the Summer Reading Challenge, which is designed to help children ages 4 to 12 keep reading and learning throughout the summer holiday.
As well as reading challenges for the children to complete there are also numerous fun events going on in all libraries.
For details of events coming up in Brent Libraries please ask in your local library or visit our online events calendar.
