A family-owned garage in Kingsbury has been named Brent Business of the Year at the Federation of Small Business (FSB) London Awards 2016.
Russell Automotive Centre, managed by husband and wife team, Steve and Jane Russell, and based in the Kingsbury Trading Estate on Barningham Way, fended off competition from other shortlisted businesses to take the prize at the prestigious event, held at Hotel Pullman, London St Pancras, on July 28.
The local garage, provides car and van maintenance services, repairs and MOT's, faced fierce competition from two other shortlisted businesses in the 'Foot Comfort Centre' and 'Let's All Dance' to win the category of Brent Business of the Year at the awards, which aim to recognise businesses that have achieved business excellence during the year.
All finalists were judged by a team of panellists, including senior executives from other London boroughs and FSB business partners, who were looking for businesses that have demonstrated outstanding initiative, boldness and imagination in enterprise, as well as sound management practices.
Presenting the award to the Russell Automotive Centre, Cllr Muhammed Butt, Leader of Brent Council, said:
"Local businesses play a huge and vital role in our community, providing services, jobs and investment into making our borough a great place to live and to do business.
"They are the lifeblood of any local area and are at the heart of our plans for regeneration in the borough, as we continue to demonstrate that we are open for business by supporting growth and investing in the local economy.
"Businesses like those shortlisted for this award demonstrate just what can be achieved by setting up shop in Brent and my congratulations go to them all, but particularly everyone at Russell Automotive Centre on their success in winning this very prestigious award."
Jane Russell, Director at Russell Automotive Centre, said:
"We are absolutely thrilled to have been awarded Brent Business of the Year. We try really hard to create a strong business, whilst providing support in the Brent community wherever we can. We are proud to be part of the borough and look forward to future progression."
