Brent children undertake Reading Challenge

25 August 2016

Reading Challenge eventAround 4000 children have signed up to the Big Friendly Read Summer Reading Challenge 2016 in Brent Libraries so far.

If all these children complete the challenge that will mean at least 24,000 library books have been read by children in Brent this school holiday.

The annual challenge is run in libraries across the country, encouraging children to read a minimum of six books during the summer holiday while completing fun competitions and activities, the theme of this year's challenge is Roald Dahl.

In Brent Libraries last week the activities were inspired by Roald Dahl's bestselling book The Witches, children created special witches hats to hide the bald heads of some of Roald Dahl's nastiest characters!

Next week the libraries are running more free events where children can create a Fantastic Mr Fox mask.

Any children who have not yet signed up to the challenge have still have one more week to take part, they can sign up in any Brent Library, just ask staff for details.
