Mayor Marks Civic Year

The Mayor of Brent, Councillor Parvez Ahmed, celebrated his civic year at an event last Thursday (29 September) at ThMayor celebrating civic yeare Crest Academy in Dollis Hill Ward accompanied by Cllr Muhammed Butt, Leader of Brent Council, and Dawn Butler, MP for Brent Central.

Mayors from across London, Former Mayors of Brent and Councillors of Brent were all in attendance, along with community leaders and members of voluntary and religious organisations.

Cllr Ahmed has been a Councillor in Dollis Hill since being elected in 2014 and lives in Dollis Hill with his family. He is the first person of Bangladeshi origin to be elected as Mayor of Brent.

The Mayor of Brent, Cllr Ahmed, said:

"I am extremely proud to be the Mayor of Brent; it is a fantastic borough full of diversity and a unique community spirit. I have really enjoyed spending my Mayoral year so far promoting and celebrating what a great place it is to live and work.

"I am delighted that so many people turned out at my event last Thursday and raised money for my three chosen charities. I will continue in my Mayoral year reminding everyone I meet what a brilliant borough we all live in."
