A garage in Crickelwood has been taken to court and fined £2000 for failing to prove that their waste was being disposed of correctly.
A R Motors, of 7 Hassop Road, was found guilty of the offences after failing to provide evidence of a valid waste transfer note and ordered to pay £2000 in costs and fines at Willesden Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Every business in the UK must prove where their waste goes and has to keep records for up to two years, under the Environmental Protection Act of 1990.
Cllr Eleanor Southwood, Cabinet Member for Environment, said:
"Without these official documents, there is nothing to prove that a business didn't intend to or actually just dump their rubbish on the street.
"We expect everyone to dispose of their waste properly and responsibly, and will take all necessary measures to investigate and prosecute those who flout the rules."
