An education service that provides courses for adults in the borough on subjects including Maths, IT and Childcare has received praise from Ofsted following a recent review.
The Brent Start service, which is run by Brent Council, received a 'Good' rating from the education watchdog and was praised for the high standard of teaching in its courses, evidenced by the high numbers of local learners who go into work or further training following their completion of a Brent Start course.
Brent Start was also applauded for the number of students gaining confidence, self-esteem and parenting skills alongside the knowledge learned in class.
Cllr Shama Tatler, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Growth, Employment and Skills said:
"Local people are working towards the careers and lives they want through Brent Start. It's a testament to the great work of all the students, teachers and staff throughout the year to receive this rating from Ofsted. Congratulations to everyone involved!
"Through Brent Start, the council is helping residents gain the skills and knowledge needed to find meaningful jobs. We are empowering people with the tools to help themselves and the local economy by being a highly skilled and knowledgeable workforce."
Brent Start's courses run throughout the year at learning centres across Brent, as well as community centres, schools and libraries.
