Brent on its way to meet carbon footprint target

14 September 2017

A recent report shows Brent Council's carbon footprint has reduced by 12.2 per cent.

The reduction will continue as the Council's Carbon Management Programme works towards its target of a 15 per cent total reduction.

This will involve replacing streetlights with greener LED upgrades, encouraging staff to reduce the energy used in Council buildings and aiming to retrofit some buildings to make them more energy efficient and better for the environment.

Cllr Eleanor Southwood, Brent Council's Cabinet Member for Environment & Sustainability, said:

"This is really important work - we have an obligation to our residents to save money and we owe it to future generations to limit our impact on the environment. That's exactly what this does."
