Solar power to the people

6 March 2018

The launch of an innovative new scheme could see Brent residents save on their energy bills and potentially earn extra cash.

Residents across Brent are being offered high-quality solar panels at an impressive discount.

Backed by Brent Council, in partnership with the Mayor of London's office, Solar Together London offers residents an efficient way to power their homes.

Residents are eligible to apply for the scheme individually but as a group purchasing scheme, the more residents who take part, the bigger the discount for everyone.

Cllr Muhammed Butt, Leader of Brent Council said:

"This is a fantastic deal for Brent residents to save on their energy bills, generate clean electricity and potentially earn money on excess energy generated. From recycling to sustainable travel, when given the option that works for them, residents choose a greener Brent."

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said:

"London has a wealth of buildings that can harness solar energy, but we're simply not making enough of them. Generating clean, local electricity can help cut bills, and bulk buying will make solar panels more affordable. I'm delighted to see so much interest in community energy, which is just one part of my plan to make London a zero-carbon city by 2050."

Register by 18 April to receive a no-commitment offer from the scheme.

Registration is free and residents will receive a personalised offer based on their roof specifications. This includes an estimate of costs and returns on their investment.
