Harlesden residents came together to celebrate and honour outstanding community members who have contributed to improving the image and perception of Harlesden, and making it a safer, healthier and more enjoyable place to live and work.
Harlesden Festive Lights Cooperative (HFLC) organised and facilitated the evening event rewarding the efforts of its unsung community heroes.
Together with the Leader of Brent Council, Cllr Muhammed Butt, recently honoured community champion Leroy Simpson hosted and handed out awards to Harlesden's most dedicated and hard-working members of the community.
Leader of Brent Council, Councillor Muhammed Butt said:
"It was great to see so many people who care about Harlesden coming together in one place to celebrate. A huge thank you to all those who have put so much effort into improving their local area. Events like this really show the strength of community spirit here in Brent."
Co-chair of HFLC and Harlesden Community Champion, Leroy Simpson, commented:
"You could feel the love, the passion and respect that we all had for each other, Harlesden and the rest of the community."It's all good when we work together with passionate leaders".
Cllr Bobby Thomas, Harlesden Ward Councillor who has served Brent over the last 24 years, received a special surprise award on the evening to recognise his ongoing outstanding contribution to raising the profile of Harlesden and his work with the local community.
