Small and medium-sized businesses in Brent are now set to benefit from contracts totaling £100M which are being tabled by construction companies operating in the borough, at a special procurement event to be held next week (July, 11).
Following a surge of interest from prospective suppliers and buyers looking to take part in the event at Brent Civic Centre, the value of the contracts on offer has now increased from £60m to £100M.
McAleer & Rushe, Catalyst, and St George are just some of the large construction firms confirmed for the event, who are looking to talk about upcoming projects to local suppliers, in areas such as roofing, scaffolding, dry lining, catering and other services.
Large national companies and smaller Brent-based businesses will come together at the 'Meet the Buyer' event, which will be held at Brent Civic Centre on Wednesday, 11 July to discuss upcoming projects in the borough and what local business can offer.
While other events are planned for other industries, this first Meet the Buyer event which has been organised by Brent Council, is part of an effort to ensure that the regeneration taking place in Brent, benefits Brent businesses and in turn, helps to provide even more job opportunities for local residents.
There are limited spaces left for the event, with any prospective suppliers or buyers urged to book their tickets early to avoid disappointment.
Cllr Shama Tatler, Brent Council's Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Highways, Planning, said:
"Our Meet the Buyer events are a key part of our work to support local economic growth and aim to ensure that the regeneration that's happening in Brent, directly benefits Brent businesses, Brent jobs and Brent residents.
"I'd encourage any small business in Brent to attend this event and show the large companies that whatever their need, be it a job worth a few thousand pounds or several million, they need look no further then what's already here in Brent."
In a further boost for local firms, Brent's businesses will be entitled to a free workshop with supply-chain specialists to help them prepare their pitch, so that they are ready to win new business on the day.
