This week the Mayor of Brent, Cllr Arshad Mahmood, welcomed Mayors from all over London to Brent for his Civic Service to celebrate his coming year in office and promote his fundraising work for his two chosen charities, Sufra NW London and the READ Foundation.
Hosted by Brent Council Chief Executive Carolyn Downs, the event was attended by leaders of faith and community groups from across the borough and featured performances from a poet, violinist and dhol drummers.
The Mayor of Brent, Cllr Arshad Mahmood, said:
"I was delighted to welcome so many people to my Civic Service on Monday. I look forward to continuing to work closely with all my colleagues and charities to capitalise on the many strengths, attributes and talents you have.
"In a time of uncertainty for many in Brent, I hope to use the office of Mayor to unite our communities."
