New Brent hub on social platform connects young people with opportunities
8 February 2019
Brent Council is working with Brent-based business, Slenky, to engage local suppliers and partners and connect young people with more opportunities.
Slenky is a digital platform that connects young people aged 13-24 with opportunities (or 'shots' as Slenky calls them) related to their passions or interests.
A shot on Slenky can be attending a one off special event, joining a workshop, learning a new skill, or getting first hand experience working in an area of interest. It will help them discover new talents and interests and start moving in the direction they want to.
From small local and regional organisations to leading national and international brands, Slenky collaborates with companies and businesses in Brent and across the UK to provide shots and help them become socially-accessible to young audiences.
Cllr Amer Agha, Lead member for Employment and Skills, said:
"I'm delighted that the council is working with Slenky and helping young people take their interests and passions to the next level. We're keen to use our hub to make sure local young people get the chance to access real-life opportunities or try new types of opportunities from our partners and suppliers. Every shot is an exciting opportunity for young people and businesses alike."
Cllr Margaret McLennan, Deputy Leader of Brent Council, said:
"The introduction of new technologies continues to change the way we interact with each other and the world around us. This platform is just one of the ways the council is embracing the opportunities presented by digital innovation that help improve lives."
