Mayor of Brent’s sold out Gala Fundraising Dinner raises money for families in poverty
10 April 2019
Over 300 guests attended a gala dinner to raise funds for the Mayor of Brent's chosen charities last Friday (5 April). The two charitable organisations, which both work to support to people in poverty, are to each receive half of all the proceeds raised from the event.
The dinner brought together hundreds of guests including high profile dignitaries, councillors, business leaders and local people for a night of food, live music and dancing.
Sufra NW London is a local charity which provides emergency food aid and support for people in crisis, including families living in extreme poverty. The READ foundation works to create school places in the developing world for children affected by poverty.
The Mayor of Brent, Councillor Arshad Mahmood, said, "It was lovely to see Brent's amazing community spirit in full force on the night. It was an exciting and fun evening and I was overwhelmed by the amount of support received. I would like to thank everyone who bought a ticket and supported these worthy causes."
