97% of residents offered a top three preference primary school

18 April 2019

Every Brent child whose parents applied on time has been offered a primary school place for September 2019.

Figures published on Tuesday 16 April show that Brent Council received 3,602 on time applications for places at primary school reception classes - approximately 162 fewer applications than last year.

Of the applications received for September 2019, 87.65 per cent were offered their first preference primary school, a 0.9 per cent increase on 2018.

97% of applicants were offered a place at one of their top three schools and 98% were offered one of their preferred schools.

Cllr Agha, Cabinet Member for Schools, Employment and Skills said:

"It is great that we have met the demand for primary school places for 2019 and that the number of first-preference allocations has increased yet again. We have invested £96m million in primary school expansion in the past five years and with 94% of schools in Brent rated "good" or "outstanding" by Ofsted, we are confident that we are giving young people in the borough every opportunity to succeed.

"There will be late applications but I expect Brent will be able to meet this demand as well."
