12 June 2019

The former Mayor of Brent, Les Ford, sadly died on Saturday 1 June. Flags are flying at half-mast today at Brent Civic Centre.

Les helped to raise money for charity Help the Aged (now Age UK), which provides vital community support for older people who are isolated or in poverty.

A dedicated member of the community, he was a councillor who represented Alperton ward for many years. He served the borough as first citizen and Mayor between 1986 and 1987.

His funeral is due to be held in Milton Keynes on 21 June 2019.

Cllr Ernest Ezeajughi, the current Mayor of Brent, said:

"Les was an asset to the community in Brent.

"He was Mayor over 30 years ago and to this day is still highly regarded by many. He will be sadly missed.

"I offer my deepest sympathy to his friends and family at this difficult time."
