Take the car free pledge as you return to work with #MyCarFreeTrip

10 September 2020

Join Londoners across the capital and pledge to go car free using the hashtag #MyCarFreeTrip.

To mark Car Free Day, on Tuesday 22 September 2020, Transport for London has prizes up for grabs, from brands including GoPro, Brompton Bikes, and Santander Cycles. Those who take the pledge on social media will be in the running.

With many people returning to work and school, now is the perfect time to reimagine your trips. Research shows that leaving the car at home and walking briskly or cycling for a total of just 20 minutes a day has a positive impact on your physical and mental health and help make the air in the borough cleaner.

Help and support is on offer to make your switch as easy as possible:

Cllr Krupa Sheth, Lead Member for Environment, said: “We’re making it easier and safer to travel by foot and by bike in Brent. I’d encourage everyone to walk or bike and see how much better you feel. I will be taking the pledge this Car Free Day and hope you’ll join me. Please help spread the word and encourage friends, family and neighbours to do the same.”

Measures being rolled out across the borough to make walking and cycling easier and safer include Brent Healthy Neighbourhoods, School Streets and a temporary cycle lane on Harrow Road.
