Are you sitting on bulky waste you need to get rid of? Perhaps you need to shift an old mattress, broken wardrobe or garden trellis.

To coincide with the Great British September Clean, the Community Skip will be visiting a street near you. Residents can drop up to five bulky items free of charge, with proof of a Brent address.

Like all great comebacks, this one is bigger and better than ever. All 21 wards will get a visit from the Skip. Social distancing measures will be in place and hand sanitiser will be available.

Representatives from Veolia will join the council’s Neighbourhood Managers to help sort items and ensure they are recycled and reused wherever possible.

Due to COVID-19, we are also encouraging residents to consider organising their own small socially-distanced litter picks in September.

We can help with litter pickers, bags and other support. Email to arrange for Veolia to drop off free litter picking equipment, as well as to pick up your bags of waste afterwards.

Remember to recycle items where you can, and always follow the latest government guidelines.

Cllr Krupa Sheth, Lead Member for Environment, said: “I’m grateful to everyone who makes the right choice to dispose of their rubbish legally. There’s really no excuse – your rubbish, your responsibility.

“These skips have been a huge success in the past. Combined with our ongoing Wanted! poster campaign, which asks for help in identifying people caught on camera dumping rubbish, we’re waging a war on fly-tipping.”
