Brent Council has formally consulted on proposed changes to the school admission arrangements for community schools in the borough. The proposed changes would come into effect for the 2024/2025 academic year.
The consultation ran from Wednesday 16 November 2022 until Tuesday 3 January 2023.
There were three proposed changes to the current admission arrangements:
- the removal of all admissions criteria determined by catchment area, and their replacement with criteria for all siblings, then any other applicants
- a change to lift the children of staff criterion above the sibling criteria
- expansion of the Medical and Social Needs criterion to include consideration of the medical or social needs of family members with caring or parental responsibility for an applicant.
The Admission Arrangements will be determined by Cabinet in February 2023 and will be available to view online by 28 February 2023.
