Foster Care Fortnight

This Foster Care Fortnight (15-28 May 2023), we encourage you to start your fostering journey.

Bring your background, life skills and knowledge into fostering and help local children in your unique way.

You (and your family) have a lot to offer. Your cultural heritage, life experience and skills are invaluable. Bring them into fostering to help vulnerable local children and young people in care. With support from us you will make a lasting difference to their lives.

Be inspired by the stories of our diverse fostering community to start fostering and to shape the future of local young people using your skills and knowledge.

Brenda has been fostering since 2008. She is a single carer who is very passionate about her role. Listen to Brenda share her inspiring story.

Hear what Brenda has to say about her fostering experience.

Farouk has been looking after children with his wife since 2007. Having been through the struggle of getting used to living in a new country, they applied to foster mainly asylum-seeking young people. Together with their children, Farouk and his wife have helped over 15 boys find a better future in the UK.

Mina came to the UK from Eritrea at 14. She was fostered as a child which inspired her to become a foster carer herself. She is a single mum to her 16-year-old son. With help from her strong support network, Mina will soon start to look after her first foster baby. Read Mina’s story.

Become part of the fostering community

If you are over 21, have indefinite leave to remain in the UK and have available living space you can look after local children and young people. Check if you meet the fostering criteria.

You will receive financial support, continuous free training, and ongoing help from a dedicated highly skilled social worker. Discover our support package.
