A Ford tipper truck used to leave a mountain of rubbish outside a Harlesden primary school has been seized, crushed and the owner fined thanks to the diligent detective work of council key workers.
On 11 November 2020, officers were called to Newfield Primary School, horrified to find a bulging pile of rubbish left on a school day when students were present. Waste contractors Veolia cleared the rubbish straight away and officers set out to catch the culprit.
Eagle-eyed locals had noted the vehicle registration and officers carried out a DVLA check. The truck was linked to Patrick Ward, 42, a licensed waste carrier from Oxford who should have known better.
The truck was seized and crushed. Ward was charged and sent to court on 3 March this year where he was found guilty, sentenced to community service and ordered to pay almost £2,600 in fees.
