Join forces with your neighbours for the Great Brent Spring Clean

Volunteer to organise a Community Clean Up and show some love for your neighbourhood, just in time for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

The Great Brent Spring Clean, taking place from 27 May to 17 June, calls on families, neighbours, friends and colleagues to join the #BigBagChallenge and pick up at least one bag of litter from nearby streets, parks, estates and canals to protect our vibrant local areas.

Taking place over the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend means the borough will be a cleaner and greener placer for us all to enjoy and visitors will see the wealth of community spirit that exists here in Brent.

To support local Clean Up events, Brent Council and Veolia will lend groups a free pack of gloves, litter pickers and bags and will clear all the rubbish collected.

“

Over the past two years, outdoor spaces have mattered more to us than ever. However, we need to all work together as a community to keep them clean and tidy, especially after the Jubilee street parties!

“If everyone in Brent collected just one bag of litter, we could get rid of 1.3million kilos of rubbish from our streets!

“Roll up your sleeves to get active, get outdoors and to give littered crisp packets, plastic bottles, carrier bags and cigarette butts the boot.

”

Gisela Endres, Senior Contract Manager for Veolia Brent, said:

“It’s fantastic to see the impact that community clear up events have on our residents, businesses and schools in Brent. Last year 86% of people felt more part of their community and 79% felt their overall sense of well-being improved as a result of taking part.

“During the last two years, we have supported over 350 Brent residents in collecting over 1,500 extra bags of litter from our streets and parks. Congratulations to everyone who got involved - we hope to see you all again this year and, hopefully, many new faces as well!”

To request supplies for a Community Clean Up event, please fill in this form.

The campaign is a spin-off of the national Great British Spring Clean that took place earlier this year. For more information, contact recyclemore@brent.gov.uk
