If you have an idea for a project that can help to tackle climate change and make your local area greener - you could get up to £5,000 worth of funding to bring it to life.

Brent's Together Towards Zero Grant, which aims to support communities in improving their local areas by making them greener, cleaner, and more environmentally friendly is open now.

In previous rounds of funding, local community groups and residents have set up re-use and repair projects, community gardens, and education programmes with the grant money.

“

I am delighted that we have decided to back this great initiative that really puts climate action in to the hands of residents and empowers communities to make their spaces greener, cleaner and more environmentally friendly.

”
Cllr Krupa Sheth, Lead member for environment
Cllr Krupa Sheth,
Cabinet Member for Environment, Infrastructure and Climate Action

"I would like to thank all the local groups and residents who work so hard to make Brent such a nice place to live and are working tirelessly in the fight against climate change. That is why it is right that we back this project by increasing the amount of money available to local groups who make such an impact."

Willesden Green Town Team

One group that made the most of the money available from the council was the Willesden Green Town Team, who used their grant funding to put up planters by Willesden Green Station. These relatively small additions can have a huge impact on the environment, helping against noise and vehicle pollution, providing a vital source of food for pollinators and also creating a green corridor that local residents can be proud of. Local residents have said so themselves, with Carolina and Filipe who live in the local area saying, "The planters are amazing, we love walking to work and seeing them as we start our day."

Applications for the Together Towards Zero are now open.
