"Oh Sorry, I Didn't See You There"

8 January 2018 at 9am-8pm Monday to Friday, 10am-5pm Saturday and Sunday to 28 January 2018 at The Library at Willesden Green, 95 High Road, Willesden, London, NW10 2SF

We are delighted to welcome artists in residence Alaa Kassim and Misbah Siddique to Willesden Gallery in January 2018. As part of their residency the two emerging British Muslim Artists artists are creating new work that aims to engage the surrounding local community in the gallery space, by drawing on the rich cultural and lingual history of the residents of the area. There are a wide range of ethnicities in the area, and it would be valuable to draw attention to this through a visual language.

At the end of the residency (23 to 27 January) Alaa and Misbah will present a body of work that speaks of the importance of feeling ontologically secure in a climate of polarisation and division. Misbah, through the subtle manipulation of fixtures and fittings in the gallery space, will raise questions around presence and visibility. Alaa will inject colour in the forms she will create which evoke the presences of a large body of work, confronting the viewers perceptions.

Pop into the gallery to find out how you can join in.
