Cope Through Film, a FREE Community Film Screening of Ryuichi Sakamoto:CODA

Friday 24 September 2021, 6.30pm to 9.30pm, The Yellow 1 Humphry Repton Lane Wembley Park London

Ryuichi Sakamoto has had a prolific career spanning over four decades, from technopop stardom to Oscar® winning film composer.

The evolution of his music has coincided with his life journeys. Following Fukushima, Sakamoto became an iconic figure in Japan’s social movement against nuclear power. As Sakamoto returns to music following cancer, his haunting awareness of life crisis leads to a resounding new masterpiece. Ryuichi Sakamoto: Coda is an intimate portrait of both the artist and the man.

Some of his film score credits include Call Me By Your Name, The Revenant, The Last Emperor and Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence in which he also plays a role opposite David Bowie.

There will be a post film discussion facilitated by special guest Naila Darr, where she will explore some of the themes and how they resonated with the audience, and what we learned through watching the film.

Film screening at 7:00pm (doors open at 6:30pm).
Post film discussion: 8:45pm to 9:30pm
