A motorist who attacked a Brent Civil Enforcement officer has been successfully prosecuted and ordered to pay a fine of £440.
Daniel Diffley was sentenced on 24th July 2021 at Willesden Magistrate Court after pleading guilty to assaulting the Serco officer.
While on patrol on Manor Close, Kingsbury on 11 June 2021, the officer came across Mr Diffley’s black Audi car parked illegally on a yellow line. Mr Diffley was asked by the Officer to move his vehicle.
Mr Difflley threw a cup of drink and a sandwich he had been eating at the Officer, and then drove off. The Officer recorded the car license plate number and the incident was reported to the police.
In addition to the fine, Mr Diffley was also ordered to pay compensation of £100, a victim surcharge of £44, and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service, making his final court costs £669.
Cllr Krupa Sheth, Lead Member for Environment at Brent Council, said: “We are delighted with the outcome of this case. The actions of this individual were truly appalling and uncalled for.
“Abuse against our staff will not be tolerated and we will vigorously pursue prosecutions of this kind. Our staff have a right to feel safe whilst out and about doing their jobs.”
