Residents are being encouraged to swap cars for space hoppers and turn their streets into playgrounds in support of London Car Free Day this September.
Brent Council is waiving the £200 road closure fee for anyone wanting to host a Play Street – which means you can join us in celebrating London Car Free Day by closing your road for up to three hours for free!
Celebrated around the world, Car Free Day encourages people to walk, cycle and use public transport. Brent is encouraging residents to take part too by holding their very own Play Street.
Play Streets help children to play out in the streets where they live and bring communities together while tackling air pollution. For Car Free Day 2019, 17 miles of roads were closed in London and some streets measured a whopping decrease of 60% in air pollution compared to the previous day.
Any Brent resident who would like to host a Play Street for Car Free Day 2021 can apply here by Monday 26 July.
The charity London Play can support residents that would like to organise their own Play Streets and are able to provide promotional materials for organisers to use. Get in touch via firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
