Two separate grants are now on offer for community groups to apply for to deliver local projects to improve their areas or help in the fight to tackle the climate crisis.
Brent Council has doubled the existing Love Where You Live grant from £500 to £1,000. So if residents have ideas for bringing their local community together, such as supporting vulnerable neighbours or encouraging residents to join a celebration in their area, this grant can help.
Brent Together Towards Zero is a brand new Grant of up to £1,000 for great ideas or projects that have a positive environmental impact and create a greener community. This new Grant welcomes projects that protect and sustain nature, cuts local pollution, reduces waste or encourages people to recycle will all be considered.
Councillor Promise Knight, Cabinet Member for Community Engagement & Community Safety, said: “During the worst days of the pandemic last winter, we saw neighbours and entire communities rally to support each other. From checking in regularly on someone older, shopping for those less able and ensuring there was someone to talk to for those on their own, we came together. The Love Where You Live grant is all about supporting and continuing that community spirit. And, we’ve doubled the amount you can apply for, from £500 to £1,000. If you’ve got an idea, we want to hear about it.”
Councillor Krupa Sheth, Cabinet Member for the Environment, said:“Tackling the climate crisis facing the world requires international, national and local action.
“Much of what can be done to protect the planet now, and for future generations can be achieved in our homes, on our doorsteps and in parks and streets just around the corner.
“I strongly encourage anyone who has an idea that will help make Brent a greener, cleaner and more sustainable borough to raise their hand and tell us what it is. There’s up to £1,000 available for your ideas.”
